Introducing Mr. Jon Humber our new Band Director!
 

 Jon Humber graduated from East Ridge High School (Hamilton Co.) in 1998. In May 2003, he earned a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. During his time at UT, he participated in many instrumental ensembles including Trombone Choir, all three concert ensembles (on trombone or baritone), and the ‘Pride of the Southland’ Marching band. Leadership positions in the band program included euphonium and trombone section leader for the Symphonic Band (under the direction of Dr. Edwin Powell) and Undergraduate Assistant, squad leader, and co-section leader for the ‘Pride’.

Since that time, Mr. Humber spent 10 months as an environmental educator and high adventure resource at Camp Wesley Woods in Townsend, TN; 3 months as a long-term substitute in the Oak Ridge City school system (for their high school band director),and 4 years at South-Doyle. Under his direction, the 2008 South-Doyle concert band earned 'superior' ratings and an invitation to the 2009 State concert festival in Nashville.

Mr. Humber has also guest-conducted the high school bands of East Ridge, Cleveland, and Red Bank; and the middle school bands of Cleveland and Robertsville. Professional affiliations include MENC, the ETSB&OA, and the Tennessee Bandmaster’s Association.
